What We’re Doing
In order to preserve the well-being of our community, CVP Therapy will offer telehealth options for psychotherapy and consultation services. Face to face sessions will not be available at this time, but will resume once it is safe to do so. We have elected to do this based on the medical information available and in an effort to do our part to protect our community.
Our telehealth options will include both video and phone sessions. This is permitted temporarily because of the need for restricted interaction with others to slow the spread of the virus. Clients who wish to wait for us to resume face to face sessions are welcome to do so, and we offer a “case check” option via phone to help reduce isolation and promote well-being. These are short conversations that are not therapy, but will be a direct communication with Carrie.
How to Manage Social Isolation
This is a confusing term, although it is the one we have accepted. Take opportunities to be social if you can; however, these should be virtual or through the phone. Close contact in person can promote spread of illnesses in general, and that is was we wish to prevent.
Spend time in your yard or on your porch, patio, or deck. Enjoy the nice weather, away from others.
Exercise as you can. The gym is not available, but be creative at home: dance, clean, walk in your yard or on your block (where appropriate and not congested with other people).
Get up and get dressed! Continue to live as much as you can. Have goals or plans for the day. What have you been “meaning” to do and have not managed?
Practice gratitude. Many people are going out of their way to be kind or help with the problems facing us now. Notice what you see and enjoy seeing the kindness, even if you are unable to speak to them in person.
Do a good thing for yourself and others. Call friends and family. Check on the elderly (but restrict physical contact as much as possible; social visits should be remote). Provide cheer, supplies, or support to others. It will help you feel empowered.
Limit media and social media. As tempting as it is, these can increase anxiety, so please use caution. Check major headlines of reliable news, and limit other time spent on the problem. Focus instead of amusements, work, or projects.
